VPAG Newsletter – Oct 2026
🎪Thanks to all those who helped out and came along to our Summer festival. Despite the rain, we had a good turnout. VPAG are now getting ready for our next event…
🔥The VPAG Bonfire. This will take place on Thursday 5th November at the corner of Nutgrove Ave/Hill Ave. The fire will be lit between 6.15 and 6.30. We rely on volunteers to ensure this event can take place safely. We specifically need the help with the following tasks:
Donations of wood between 3 and 4.30 (No MDF, treated/painted wood or laminate, thank you)
Help with building the bonfire from 3.00
Stewards from 5.00 for 5.30
If you would like to help, please email us at hello@vpag.org.uk. We would be happy to see you!
Council regulations mean that fireworks are not permitted in the park. You are welcome to bring sparklers. Running such events incurs costs for VPAG, so we welcome donations. Online contributions can be made here. Thank you!
🐝Wildlife News – VPAG will be continuing to plant further wildflower beds near the desire path close to the existing beds. Look out for details of Saturday sessions coming soon to help with this and other projects. For more details, you can join the Wildlife Volunteer WhatsApp group here.
People’s Emergency Briefing Screening – Local councillor, Lisa Stone, has arranged a screening of the film at the Windmill Hill Community Centre on Saturday 17th Oct at 16.30. The film presents evidence about the implications of climate change and provides opportunities to engage positively in finding solutions within the local community. More information can be found here. Suitable for viewers aged 18+
South Bristol Liveable Neighbourhood consultations– Bristol City Council are asking the public for their views on the proposed scheme. There will be a number of opportunities to attend meetings in person, as well as online surveys. The deadline for submissions is by Thursday 5th November. Please see the attached page for further details and links to the specific online surveys.
🌳Help us look after our wonderful park – there has been an increase in anti-social behaviour and tagging in the park recently. Please report any incidents here, even those which seem trivial, as we have been advised that the more reporting there is, the more the police will respond. Thanks for your support.
